What are Test Pumps used for?
Pressure testing pumps are tools used to perform pressure measuring. Through pressure testing, the pressure and density is measured for various piping systems and tanks. Testing pumps prove their worth, among other things, when you are faced with leaks that you do not know the exact location of. The most well-known piping system where the pressure testing technique is used is that of plumbing and heating. A leak where there is obvious leakage does not require further inspection to locate the leak. It is different when the leak is so small that it is not or barely detectable with the naked eye. Nevertheless, pressure loss does occur, which leads to a less powerful shower spray, for example. Or a heating system that works at full speed without giving the maximum efficiency. This leads to a much higher energy bill. The pressure check pump offers a solution.
How does the pressure testing technique work?
The siphon pump is connected to a pipe. The pipe work is then pressed off, which causes pressure to build up in the pipe work. Using the pressure gauge, you can easily read off the pressure in the pipe work. This pressure must remain constant. When the pressure decreases, you know that there is a leak. With the pressure test technique, a defined section of the pipework is always extruded until the leak is found. In addition to plumbing and heating systems, the test pump is also used for piping systems such as:
- Compressed air systems
- Reservoir systems such as storage tanks
- Sprinkler systems
- Oil installations
- Cooling systems
Durable quality Pressure Testing Pump
The working technique behind the pressure testing technique may be simple, but it is important that the testing pump you work with is of such a quality to guarantee a reliable measurement. A good testing pump has the following features that guarantee an exact measurement:
- The steel fabric lining in the test tube
A test tube that has a steel fabric lining does not expand under high pressure. Inferior quality test tubes can expand under pressure, causing measurement errors. - A corrosion resistant tank
A good testing pump has a tank that is made of high-quality material. Toolnation sells only high quality dischargers. Rothenberger pressure pumps, for example, have a steel tank which is then finished with a Duramant coating. This makes the tank cold and corrosion resistant, which guarantees a high life span. - A double valve system
A testing pump that is equipped with a double valve system allows you to set the pressure build-up very precisely. In addition, the double valve system allows you to test the pump for pressure loss yourself.
