The different types of Screw Bits
Using the right bit with the right screw is very important. If you do not do this, the bit or the screw can be damaged, and of course you want to avoid this at all costs. We have listed a number of types of bits for you with the matching screws. That way, you will always choose the right screw bit.
Slotted Screw Bit
The name says it all; a slotted screwdriver bit is used for slotted screws. Slotted screw heads are common, especially in older houses. So it is certainly handy to have a slotted screw and matching bit in your possession. Slotted screws are relatively easy to install, but because you do not have much of a grip, you do tend to slip more quickly. That is why it is good to use this bit. Make sure that you choose the right thickness, so that the bit fits nicely in the slot of the screw head and there is almost no effort to be made.
Pozidriv Screw Bit
If there are screw bits that you really cannot do without in your toolbox, then it is pozidriv screw bits. These bits for your pozidriv screw are the most commonly used screw bits when doing odd jobs. Make sure that you always take the right size, otherwise it will not go so smoothly! The pozidriv screw bit provides extra grip, allowing you to drive the screws into the material from a slightly slanted angle. This is mainly an advantage in small spaces.
Torx Screw Bit
Torx screws are ideal for more demanding jobs. A torx screw has a star-shaped head with many teeth, which enables the bit to be perfectly positioned in it. This ensures that you have a strong grip on the screw and can exert a great deal of force. Here, too, it is important that you choose the right size of bit!
Allen Screw Bit
An Allen scre bit, also called hexagon head screw bit, should also not be missing from your toolbox. These bits come in handy when you are planning to assemble furniture. Sometimes they can even be found on bicycles and mopeds. With the help of a allen bit, you can easily turn hexagon screws in the slot. It is a good alternative for the Allen key.
